Singing God’s Goodness

This Week We’re Reading:

In Genesis, God promised that the seed of woman would crush the head of the serpent. At times, it seemed this promise would not be realized or that hope was hanging by a thread, and yet, God remained faithful and the line was unbroken. When it seems that hope is lost, remember that God is good to His Word and will do what He said He will do.

Psalm 34:1-10 is a song written in one of those moments and is the passage we will be reading as a church, this week.

This Week We’re Asking:

Psalm 34:1-10 contains a rich promise of God’s goodness to us. Psalm 34:8 tells us to “Taste and see that the LORD is good.” And 34:10 says that those who fear God, “will lack no good thing.”

  1. How can we “taste and see” the LORD’s goodness? What does that look like for you?

  2. Share a time that you went through something dark, but God’s goodness remained.

  3. How do we know when something is good? How can we tell when something is a good gift from God?

This Week We’re Doing:

God kept His promise to humanity in sending Jesus Christ to us. He was faithful, even when His people were not. He kept His Word, even when His people didn’t.

Heres the challenge!

This week, have each person in your family write down one time that God was faithful in your life. (Maybe you were sick and God healed you, or you went through a hard time and God helped you.) Once everyone has written down one example of God being faithful, go around and have each person share the story and spend some time talking about how we can be confident that God will always be faithful in our lives.

This Week We’re Memorizing:

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Romans 15:13 NLT
