This Week We’re Reading:

This week, we are reading a narrative in Luke 24:13-34 about two men who were walking down a road in defeat and disappointment. As these men begin to deal with their disappointment, they realize that they had placed their hope in the wrong outcome.

Read Now

“As we move our expectation to the reality who God is, He shifts our disappointment to anticipation of what He will do.”

This Week We’re Asking:

Disappointment can be disappointing!!

What are some things you have placed your “hope” in?

What are some of the feelings you experienced when those things let you down or didn’t meet your expectation?

What are ways we can trust God with those things?

How can God build anticipation in my hearts for the things He is going to do?

This Week We’re Doing:

We are all going to face moments of disappointment in our life. Things may not go the right way, someone may let us down... it's ok to feel disappointed, but it is just as important about how we respond when things happen. Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it. This week, be intentional about spending time talking together as a family about how to process moments when you feel disappointed. Pray over your family that the Holy Spirit will help you in those moments.

This Week We’re Memorizing:

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Proverbs 4:23

Preparing for Sunday:

This Sunday, we are talking about anger.

For believers, this requires a tremendous amount of nuance and care. As Christians, there are extremes we easily fall into. We can hide our anger away, refusing to admit it is there, or we can justify it by labeling it “righteous.” If you are reading this, you want to go beyond the surface level. So, in advance of Sunday, would you take some time to pray Psalm 139:23-24?

Psalm 139:23-24

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

May God prepare you to hear His word this week.

Amen and amen.
