Just an Introduction
This Week We’re Reading:
Check out Micah 6:8 first to see what God has called good for us.
Praise Kids read 1 Thessalonians 2: 9-13, this week and talked about living our lives in a way that sets the tone for the room around us instead of allowing others influence us. Read through it together and think about what actions we are being called to live out.
Here are some other scriptures if you want to dig deeper:
This Week We’re Asking:
We have such an awesome opportunity as a family to love people in our community and it's important as a family to have conversations about ways that we can get involved and also talk about things you can do to love others. Here are a few questions to begin having those conversations:
Who is someone God is laying on your heart to show love and kindness to this week
What sometimes makes it hard to show love and kindness to others?
What is something you can do this week to share love and kindness with someone?
Why is it important that we love others?
This Week We’re Doing:
Throughout the Just series, we will be focusing on how to be engaged in our community. We will have resources and opportunities to do just that, but consider this a warm-up. Talk with your family about areas of the community that need us to be involved. Make a list of all the ways you can have an impact on those around you that might be struggling.
Here are some key areas you can be on the lookout for to serve:
Local food banks
Needs in local stores
Connecting with a local homeless shelter
Someone elderly who needs help in their yard or home
Thinking of ways to show love and kindness to your neighbors
After you decide - reach out and add it to your calendar!
Know - no matter the size you taking the time to show kindness will be SIGNIFICANT and a picture of CHRIST'S LOVE!
This Week We’re Memorizing:
John 15:12
This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.
Mark 12:30-31
And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”
Prepare for Sunday:
It is difficult to try to keep our predispositions in check while reading scripture. Some people actually think it is impossible. I don't. I think it just takes desire and prayer.
As we talk about "Biblical Justice" I will probably say some things that will offend everyone. My hope is that we will step back and hear the voice of God saying "Do justice."
So, in preparation for Sunday, would you ask God to speak to your heart specifically? Would you ask Him to put your politics in check and allow His Word to take root in your heart?
Pray for His Spirit to speak to you louder than your own emotional and mental noise.
