This Week We’re Reading:

Throughout this series, we will be reading through the messages to the seven churches in Revelation. We are going to continue by reading the message to the Church in Sardis and Philadelphia in Revelation 3:1-13.

“But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.

As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God. The time of my death is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.”

2 Timothy 4:5–8

This Week We’re Asking:

Many of us remember when we were kids and were terrified as we heard teaching on the end times. Whether we were sitting in a service that brought fear or listened to conversations that were unsettling. We feel that it is important for our kids to learn about the end times in a lense that will bring anticipation for Christ’s return instead of fear. Here are a few questions you can ask your family to help lead that conversation.

  1. What is the best reward that you have ever received?

  2. Why do you think we can be excited about Jesus coming back for us?

  3. Do you think Jesus’ rewards for us are better than the rewards we can get on earth? Why or why not?

This Week We’re Doing:

“So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.”

2 Corinthians 5:9-10

In this passage we see Paul sharing how important it is for us to make it our main goal to bring pleasure to God, no matter where we are. This week we want to challenge each family member to think of one thing you can do to bring pleasure to God and accomplish it by the end of the week. This can be something like doing a chore to show obedience, being intentional to read God’s word, or making a gift for a loved one.

No matter what you decide to do, make sure that your goal is to use the opportunity to bring pleasure to God. Also, remember to keep memorizing our memory verse and allow it to lead you this week.

1 Corinthians 15:58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
