Holy Week Day 1
We’re walking with Jesus through His last week.
Today We’re Reading:
This week we are focusing on the last week of Jesus’ life. Every day we will read a portion of scripture from that last week.
During that last week, when Jesus sat down to the Last Supper with His disciples, it is likely that Jesus and the disciples recited the Hallel Psalms, or Psalms 113 thru 118. So, we are also including one of the Hallel Psalms with the reading for each day to help us share in Jesus’ experience that final week.

Today We’re Asking:
Jesus’ Triumphant Entry! In today’s portion of Scripture in Luke 19:28-40, we learn about a special day known as Palm Sunday! When we read this passage we see that Jesus told two of His disciples to go ahead and that when they entered into the village they would find a donkey that nobody had ever ridden before and that if anyone asked, “Why are you untying that colt?” they were to reply, “The Lord needs it.” The Disciples went on ahead and guess what happened? Exactly what Jesus told them! How amazing is that?!
When Jesus rode into town on the donkey, the crowds began to gather! Close your eyes for a minute and think about what it would be like to see Jesus in that moment and being part of the crowd. Here are a few questions as you continue reading from our verses today!
What did the people in today’s Bible Story do when Jesus came riding in on the donkey?
(Luke 19:35-38)What words did the crowd begin to shout and sing? (Luke 19:38)
Talk about as a family what it means to praise Jesus and why it is important.
What are some words you would use to give praises to Jesus? (Answers may vary)
Today We’re Doing:
Palm Sunday is a celebration!! It is a reminder to us about the importance of praising Jesus! Today we are going to celebrate Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem!!
Create some kind of “palm branches” with your family, using whatever you have on hand (construction paper, fabric, yarn, etc), and then dance around the house waving your palm branches! Here are some song suggestions for your family!

This Week We’re Memorizing:
For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.
Tomorrow we’ll be taking time to make a family plan for a Holy Week Fast. There are lots of options and things to think about, so check out the Guide to Family Fasting (click the button below) and get the juices flowing!
