Holy Week Day 2
We’re walking with Jesus through His last week.
Today We’re Reading:
This week we are focusing on the last week of Jesus’ life. Every day we will read a portion of scripture from that last week.
During that last week, when Jesus sat down to the Last Supper with His disciples, it is likely that Jesus and the disciples recited the Hallel Psalms, or Psalms 113 thru 118. So, we are also including one of the Hallel Psalms with the reading for each day to help us share in Jesus’ experience that final week.

Today We’re Asking:
Today as we read Mark 11:12-25, we can notice something really interesting! We will call this the “fig-temple sandwich” (fig tree story, temple story, fig tree story)! Mark really wants us to tie the stories of the fig tree and the temple together.
Which fruit do you think would make the worst sandwich? Which would make the best?
Why do you think Jesus cursed the fig tree so it wouldn’t make fruit?
Why do you think Jesus was so upset when he came to the Temple?
What does it mean to produce spiritual “fruit” in our lives?
Today We’re Doing:
One of the lessons we can learn from this passage of Scripture is about how important our walk with God is. We need to have a personal relationship with Him, ask Him into our lives, receive His gift of salvation, and live for Him. We don’t do these things so that we look like a “good Christian,” but so our lives bear the fruit of a life lived for Him. It’s not about having the “title” of Christian or the knowledge of what you should do, but it’s about the core/heart of living after Him and a personal relationship.
This week we have a special plan for your family to participate in a fast. You can find some incredible information about fasting and how to talk to your kids about fasting here: Guide to Fasting as a Family.
As a family create a daily schedule of what your family will fast each day for the week. Remember, this fast is not to just check it off and say you did it… it’s about growing in your relationship with Him. Spending time connecting with God in worship, prayer and reading your Bible.
This Week We’re Memorizing:
For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.
Looking Ahead:
Tomorrow, as we read about some of the questions that Jesus was asked by those around Him, we’ll coming up with some questions that we would like to ask Jesus. It’s not about having all the answers, but more about bringing our questions to Jesus.
