Holy Week Day 5
We’re walking with Jesus through His last week.
Today We’re Reading:
This week we are focusing on the last week of Jesus’ life. Every day we will read a portion of scripture from that last week.
During that last week, when Jesus sat down to the Last Supper with His disciples, it is likely that Jesus and the disciples recited the Hallel Psalms, or Psalms 113 thru 118. So, we are also including one of the Hallel Psalms with the reading for each day to help us share in Jesus’ experience that final week.

Today We’re Asking:
Jesus dropped to his knees to wash the disciples’ feet… Jesus, the King of Kings, showed us that he came to the world in humility to serve and clean us from our own sin and make a way for us to enjoy His presence forever! What an amazing Savior.
If you could make a whole meal out of only desserts, what would the meal be?
Why do you think Jesus said to take the cup and the bread in remembrance of Him?
What are some ways that you can remember what Jesus did for you today?
What are some ways you can follow Jesus’ example of humility like when he washed the disciples’ feet?
Today We’re Doing:
In John 13:34, Jesus gave us a new commandment, “Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.”
One of the ways that Jesus showed His disciples that He loved them was by washing their feet. Here are some ideas for how you can have a foot washing with your family:
Gather supplies including a large bucket or bowl, towels, and a pitcher of warm water.
Decide ahead of time who will wash whose feet. For example, maybe one person in your family is the designated “washer” and washes all the feet. Or, alternatively, divide the foot washing duties up: siblings wash siblings and parents wash parents or mix and match. Prayerfully consider how the Lord might guide you to have your family serve one another.
If you haven’t yet, read John 13:1-17 together.
Based on your pre-determined foot washing plan, take turns quietly washing each other’s feet.
Pray together, asking that Jesus would help you to love one another as He loves us.
This Week We’re Memorizing:
For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.
Looking Ahead:
Tomorrow, as we read about Jesus crucifixion, we will take communion together to remember Jesus’ death for us.
