Today We’re Reading:

This week we are focusing on the last week of Jesus’ life. Every day we will read a portion of scripture from that last week.

Luke 22:14-23

Mark 15:16-41

Today We’re Asking:

What a sad day. I didn’t like reading what we are reading today. How could they treat Jesus, God’s Son, like this? It is important for us to realize the pain and darkness that Jesus went through on our behalf.

  1. What is the hardest thing you have had to go through?

  2. How do you think Jesus felt when he was being hurt by people He loved?

  3. Why do you think Jesus went through so much pain for us?

  4. How can we show Jesus we love him during this time of thinking about what he went through for us?

Today We’re Doing:

Jesus created a new covenant, a new agreement, between God and man when He died on the cross. And He told his disciples—and us—to take communion together to remember what He did for us.

Today, take communion together as a family. Here’s how you can you can remember what Jesus has done through communion:

  • Gather something to symbolize the blood of Christ and something to symbolize His body. The attitude with which you approach communion matters more than the specific types of food and drink you use.

  • If you haven’t yet, read Luke 22:14-23 together.

  • Talk about what it means and why it is important to take communion together.

  • Eat the bread and drink the cup.

  • Pray together, giving thanks for what Jesus has done and looking forward to His return.

This Week We’re Memorizing:

Romans 6:7-8

For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.

Looking Ahead:

Tomorrow, as we read about the time between Jesus’ death and resurrection, we will “experience the wait” together.
