Our Values

what do I value.jpg

This Week We’re Reading:

This week, we are reading John 15 together as a church family. As we think about what we value, we can start with some of Jesus’ last words to His disciples. What did Jesus say was important? And how can we work towards valuing the things that Jesus thinks are important?

This Week We’re Asking:

Throughout every season of life, it is so important to know your values and allow them to guide you as you face decisions. It is essential that we ask the Holy Spirit to lead us and lean on His Word and the values He has given us so we can walk confidently.

  1. How do you think having values change our lives?

  2. Why do you think it is important to continually look back at your values?

“It is so impactful that the message of the Gospel is unchanging in an ever changing world. ”

— Pastor Ashton Peters

This Week We’re Doing:

Praise has 6 values that shape who we are as a church and help guide us as we make decisions. Each ministry we have holds these values firmly and are built around lifting these values up.

The amazing thing is that these values don’t only apply to the church, but they can also apply in our daily lives! This week, take a moment to look over these 6 values. As you do, have a conversation about how these values help to guide your life and talk as a family about how you can apply them to your life.

Want to take it a step further? Talk through and write down 3 values that you and your family want to focus on. Feel free to use or modify some of the Praise values or create values specific to your family!

1. Jesus is the source

2. Jesus is the summit

3. Change is best inside-out

4. Substance is not negotiable

5. Maturity is movement

6. Emotion is God-given

This Week We’re Memorizing:

Matthew 11:28-29

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.
