Prepare the Way

This Week We’re Doing:

Throughout the coming weeks leading up to Easter, we are going to have a time of reflection in order to refocus on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our heart’s desire is to turn from our sin and brokenness and trust in His amazing work in our lives.

This season is a time for fasting and self-denial, though not for denial itself. It is a time for us to empty ourselves of the lesser things so we can be filled with the greater things of the Gospel.

As we walk through these next few weeks, we want to invite you to join us as we intentionally fast one thing each week. Each weekly resource will call us to join in a specific fast for the week. Use this as an opportunity to join with your family and discuss the significance of denying something in your life in order to be filled with greater things.

The Fast:

This week, we invite you to join us in fasting food. You may choose to fast one meal a day; some may fast an entire day, while others may choose to fast multiple days. During this time of fasting, use it as an opportunity to pursue greater communion with Christ.

“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”

— Hebrews 4:16

This Week We’re Asking:

As we discuss the importance of denying the lesser things in our lives in order to be more focused on the greater things; here are a few questions to lead discussion in your family.

  1. What do you think it means to fast?

  2. How do you think fasting can bring us closer to God?

  3. Share one thing that you can give up in order to focus more on God?
