C H A N G E

I woke up early, too early, thinking about this word, these six letters arranged in this exact way. So many emotions and thoughts flooded my mind while contemplating this word.

We often hear people say, “I don’t like change.”

Very rarely do we hear people say, “Yes! I love change!” Why is this? I believe that we are creatures of habit, we like the known, we find safety in what we have already experienced and are familiar with.

If some words can be classified as dirty, this one could be classified as intimidating.

My mind likes to take the worst-case scenario before it ever gets to the best possible outcome. After the anxiety subsided with all of the negative thoughts about change, this word began to transform into something beautiful in my mind.

What if change isn’t about what is actually changing? What if it is about how we rely on God, how we trust Him with our lives?

Could our thinking be modified? Could we refer to change as transformation

What if, when we receive news that change is coming, good or bad, our immediate reaction is to say:

“Oh Lord, I cannot wait to see how you are going to transform me through this experience? I trust You to carry me through this change in life.”

Imagine giving control, from the start, to the One who already knows that the change, the transformation, is inevitable. John 16:33, in The Message says, “I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.”

C H A N G E is here to stay.

It has affected our lives and it will continue to transform us from who we are into who we are going to be.

The best advice I can give you about dealing with C H A N G E is to still your mind, find a few scriptures to meditate on, and buckle up for the transformation that God is going to do in your life!

Lamentations 3:22-24 ESV

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”

Isaiah 40:28 ESV

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.
