Kids and Teens Bible Buying Guide

Kids and Teens Bible Buying Guide

Dec 18 Written By Praise Staff

Hey there Praise family! Navigating the shelves of Bibles — whether that’s digitally shopping or staring at a real life bookshelves — can be overwhelming. With that in mind, we decided to put together a Bible Buying Guide that included a few of our favorite Bibles for kids and teens. Pastor Heather and Pastor Ashton have broken these up into age groups, and included costs, links, and brief descriptions for each! This is not an exhaustive list, but it is definitely a list of our favorites that you can't go wrong with. A Bible should be something your child loves, and we want to help you make that happen! First off, we'll cover our recommendations for nursery/preschool age kids, and then we'll walk you through what we recommend for teens!

TOP BIBLES FOR NURSERY/PRESCHOOL AGES

#1 - Bible Storybook from the Bible App for Kids

Cost: $14.89

Description: This Bible is fun and engaging for kids with the pictures and bright colors. There also are some discussion questions throughout to help guide conversations with your kids. I love this Bible because you can also download The Bible App for Kids that help create an interactive experience and offers interactive activities for your kids. In our Early Childhood Department at Praise this is the Bible we use the most!

#2 - The Jesus Storybook Bible

Cost: $10.99

Description: This Bible personally is an absolute favorite of mine for kids. The illustrations are colorful and have so much detail. One of the reasons this Bible is my favorite is because of how each Bible story being told beautifully points back to Jesus as our Savior. Seriously, as you begin to read through the Bible stories you can't help to be moved by how much God loves us and His love shown through Jesus.

TOP BIBLES FOR ELEMENTARY AGES

#1 - Fire Bible for Kids (NIV)

Cost: $30.00

Description: This is an incredible study Bible for kids with an emphasis on the Holy Spirit. They have some great illustrations in the Bible! Also, I love the study notes throughout the Bible for the kids to learn and grow. This Bible reminds me of my very first study Bible I had when I was a kid growing up.

#2 - Hands on Bible for Kids (NLT)

Cost: $11.59

Description: This Bible is a lot of fun for kids and families! One of the things that I love about the Hands on Bible is the way they bring the Bible alive in an interactive way. Throughout the Bible they have 102 hands on experiences for families to do together!

TOP BIBLES FOR TEENS

#1The FireBible

Cost: $20-$80

Description: If you were to ask for a good place to start with your teen this would be my first recommendation. I remember being at our National Fine Arts Festival the first year that a version of the Student FireBible was released. Since its release it has continued to be one of my favorite study Bibles. One of the key components is that it may be the only student study Bible that you can find where the devotions and footnotes are completely written from a Pentecostal perspective. Also, it has great study notes about being a campus missionary (through Youth Alive, a youth ministry of the Assemblies of God) and about the commitments to Pray-Give-Serve-Tell. If your student is new to reading his/her Bible, you definitely want to start here!

#2The Life Application Study Bible NLT (Student Edition)

Cost: $15-45 (depending on style, color, and cover)

Description: The NLT Life Application Study Bible is fantastic whether you go with the student edition or just the original version. Just as its name suggests, the NLT Life Application Study Bible gives real life application to Scripture as you read it. Not only that, but the footnotes are great for an in-depth study. This Bible also includes "Character Studies" which are located throughout the text and enable one to engage in the study of various Bible characters.

In addition to this, it has a fun extra which gives you the option to choose color and study notes for both guys and girls.

#3 - The Filament Study Bible
Cost: $50-$80
Description: It's difficult to make this my number two Bible because it is the one I love the most. If your student has their own smartphone or iPad THIS should be the top Bible on your list! These Bibles have a symbol on every page you can scan with your phone that opens up an app containing more resources than you could imagine. I'm talking videos, devotionals, commentaries, virtual walkthroughs, etc. I still use this Bible all the time for writing devotionals and getting context behind what's going on in the Bible. I cannot stress enough how great this Bible truly is, especially for high school aged students. This is an expensive Bible but it is worth every penny.
