This Week We’re Asking:

It’s so important to have the understanding that God created us in His image and our emotions are given by Him. The way we our emotions lead us respond to situations is a direct correlation of our beliefs and values so they can help guide us to know what our genuine faith is rooted in. Here are a few questions to help start a conversation on our emotions!

  1. Why do you think God gave us emotions?

  2. How do you think our emotions help us to see what we truly place our beliefs and values in?

  3. How do you think our faith affects our emotions and how we respond in different situations?

“ O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.”

— Psalm 62:8

This Week We’re Doing:

God is an incredible creator. He intentionally made each of us and we should keep in mind that He has made us exactly how we are for a reason. He gave us feelings and emotion and according to Paul, those emotions come from the depths of who we are. Emotion comes from our heart, our conscience, and our faith. It is a result of beliefs and values.

As you go throughout the week, try to intentionally take note of how you respond to certain situations. Maybe there is a stressful situation at work, someone that bothers you at school, or an incredible blessing throughout the week. Whether it is a negative or positive experience, look back at how your emotions led you to respond. As we look at our emotions, they will give us insight to what we truly believe and value. If your emotions are driving you into a deeper relationship with God, begin to sincerely ask God to draw you closer to Him.

This Week We’re Memorizing:

Matthew 11:28-29

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.

Coming up Next Week:

Next Sunday we will be talking about our value, “Maturity is Movement.” As we grow in maturity, it is essential to be outward focused and walk with others in their faith as well.
